I'll tell you what I know of the backstory of how this came about but....if you want the short version, one could just say... it's simply a result of the unrelenting drive and optimism of Jimmy Blecher.
And that'd be the truth.
But here's a little more detail. Jimmy likes baseball and realized the repeating lyrics 'I'm on my way home' of Callypso would be a perfect jingle for the stadium after a home run. He recorded a few remixed versions of Callypso just for the Royals to demo. He came to me and we made a special custom graphics for a flyer to hold the CD (- the pic above is the front cover of the flyer). We put a lot of effort into the presentation materials and managed to get Jimmy in to meet the right person in the Royals organization. They liked it... but had already committed to a home run jingle for the 2010 season.
But that wasn't the end of it. Many would have tossed the idea at that point.... but not JimmyB. Instead, he comes back to me with a list of 18 more teams to make the pitch to - and set me to work on altering the presentation folder to all 18 teams! In the meantime, the Royals and Jimmy kept talking and worked out the opening day performance.
So there you go - from a dream/ a vision/a thought --- to reality.
Thanks for showing us all how it's done Jimmy.
